According to our school sick policy students are not able to remain in school with the following symptoms (list is not exhaustive): • Fever (100.4 or greater)/Chills • Sore Throat • Repeated episodes of vomiting/diarrhea • Severe Cold – runny nose/bad cough that prevents the child from sleeping at night or disrupts normal activities • Has distracting pain from earache, headache, or sore throat Students exhibiting these symptoms must be excluded from school and remain home for 24 hours AFTER the symptoms are gone without the use of over-the-counter medications to treat these symptoms. It is essential that the school has a phone number where you can be contacted during the day and an emergency number in the event you cannot be reached. Please be sure that arrangements can be made to transport your child home from school and that childcare is available in case of illness. Management of COVID-19 Students who test positive for COVID-19, according to the CDC and the Florida Department of Health, will need to stay home for: *5 days from the date the positive test was administered or 5 days since symptoms first appeared (whichever occurred first) AND be fever-free for at least 24 hours (without fever-reducing medicine) AND have improvement in other symptoms (cough, shortness of breath) OR *Student may return 5 days prior to if they receive a negative diagnostic COVID-19 test and are asymptomatic. *Student receives written permission to return to school from a medical provider. The student must be fever free for at least 24 hours without taking fever reducing medications and other symptoms have improved. Students can be excused for sickness for two days by the parent/guardian reporting the absence as sick. On the third day, a doctor's note or positive test result (COVID, strep, flu, etc.) must be submitted for the absence to be excused.
