The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program is a statewide reading motivational program. Its purpose is to encourage students to read for pleasure and to explore books at various reading levels to improve fluency. Sunshine State books are chosen for their: wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.
How It Works:
- SSYRA books will be available in classrooms or the media center.
- Students must read the books and pass the quizzes (score at least 4/5 or 7/10).
- After passing each quiz, students earn a book-specific brag tag.
Grade-Level Categories:
- K–2 Books
- 3rd Grade Books
- 4–5 Books
Celebrations for Participation:
Students who meet the reading and quiz goals by the deadlines can attend special celebrations:
- 3 Book Celebration: Friday, October 3rd
- 7 Book Celebration: Friday, December 12th
- 11 Book Celebration: Friday, March 13th
- 15 Book Celebration: Friday, May 8th
